Buyer guide
Plan your first partner connection.
ModernEDI provides hosted AS2, mapping, and transaction visibility. Your team owns the partner requirements, mapping logic, and connection to your business applications. Use this guide to plan the work and decide what help you need.
Confirm the fit before checkout
- Partner connection requirements: AS2 IDs, endpoint URL, public certificates, receipt preferences, and any fixed-address requirements. Check whether the partner accepts HTTPS or requires plain HTTP.
- Documents and expected data: X12 versions and transaction sets, representative input, and the JSON, XML, or other output your application expects.
- Ownership and volume: who will maintain the maps and application integration, expected daily AS2 traffic, and the partner's testing and rollout requirements.
Follow the guided example for an overview. Use the live mapper without signup to check the available X12 catalog and test representative documents. If a required version or document is missing, send us the requirement before purchasing.
Choose a plan from the partner's network requirements and your expected volume. The security overview, service-provider list, and service status are available for procurement review.
From a workspace to real traffic
- Configure the partner.Enter the AS2 connection details and X12 identifiers. Exchange the required connection information with the partner.
- Test and review the map.Run representative input, inspect the business values, and review the mapping before deploying it. A sample run does not send a document.
- Verify the actual exchange.Check the received document, mapped output, receipts, and required acknowledgments. Connect your application through the Integration API and verify its import or reply behavior.
The first-document guide covers the browser steps. Your partner's implementation guide and test requirements determine what you need to verify before production. Scenarios and external Git remain optional.
Moving from another EDI provider
ModernEDI does not currently offer a one-click import from another provider. Gather the partner's AS2, network, identifier, and certificate requirements plus representative documents. Recreate and validate the maps in ModernEDI, including the data your downstream application expects.
Agree the cutover and acceptance checks with your partner and application owners. Verify the new exchange before retiring the old connection. Self-serve support can help interpret requirements and review the rollout approach; full map authoring and downstream implementation are your team's responsibility.
Included support and getting help
- Included in self-serve support
- Product questions, help interpreting partner requirements, workspace-configuration guidance, and troubleshooting.
- Your team's implementation work
- Full map authoring, downstream integration, and ongoing project management. Additional help may be offered case by case; Enterprise commitments are defined in the order form.
- Response expectations
- Our target for an initial response is within two business days, Monday through Friday, US Central Time. This is a response target, not a service-level agreement. Any contracted Enterprise response commitment is stated in the order form.
For a service or setup problem, use the product-support form or email support@modernedi.com. Include the affected partner, relevant message IDs and time window, what you expected, and what you observed. Check service status for a reported platform issue.
If your rollout needs a specific response commitment or implementation scope, discuss Enterprise requirements and confirm them in the written agreement.
Daily usage and limits
Self-serve plans include up to 2,000 AS2 messages per UTC day. Each distinct inbound or outbound AS2 message ID counts once, even when an interchange contains several transaction-set rows. Activity shows the inbound/outbound split and attempted, accepted, and rejected totals.
ModernEDI warns at 1,750 attempted messages, sends an over-limit notice after 2,000, and rejects new messages after 2,500 while holding them briefly for support recovery. Enterprise removes the daily message limit. Include testing, retries, and acknowledgments when discussing expected traffic with us.
There are no plan-based limits today on trading partners, saved maps, or Integration API keys. Reasonable-use, security, and abuse controls still apply.
Signup, billing, and cancellation
Choose a plan and request an email sign-in invitation. After signing in, reserve your AS2 hostname and complete checkout. Your paid subscription and workspace provisioning begin when checkout completes; requesting an invitation does not start billing.
Public self-serve plans have no paid-workspace trial and are month to month unless checkout or a separate agreement says otherwise. Published prices are in USD, plus applicable taxes.
Cancel through the available billing flow, or contact support for help. Eligible self-serve monthly cancellation takes effect immediately. ModernEDI initiates the eligible unused portion as a prorated refund to the original payment method, rather than store or account credit. The payment provider and financial institutions control when the refund appears.
The Subscription Terms explain eligibility, exceptions, and data access. Checkout, the terms, and any separate written agreement define the final features and commitments.
Transaction history and recovery
While a workspace is active, transaction documents and associated acknowledgments are normally available in operational history for 12 months after processing. An Enterprise order form may specify a different period. Export and independently retain any records your organization needs; ModernEDI is not a legal archive or your exclusive system of record.
After cancellation, new AS2 processing and workspace changes stop. Authorized users can access retained records through read-only recovery mode for 90 days, subject to each record's original age-based retention window. Cancellation does not restart that window. Contact support before recovery access ends if you need export or reactivation assistance.
